PASI HYÖKKI CHOSEN AS THE NEW MUSIC DIRECTOR OF THE TAPIOLA CHOIR

Pasi Hyökki (37), Master of Music, has been chosen as the new music director of the Tapiola Choir starting first of August 2008. Pasi follows in this position professor Erkki Pohjola - who founded the choir in 1963 - and internationally recognized music pedagogue Kari Ala-Pöllänen, who retires in the Summer after having directed the Choir for the last 14 Years.

Pasi Hyökki has directed several Finnish choirs, and has won in 2003 the first price in the international Harald Andersén chamber choir competition with the chamber choir EMO Ensemble. Pasi Hyökki has sung himself in his childhood in the Tapiola Choir, so the Choir and the Tapiola Sound are already familiar for him.
